and Long-Term Vacation Rentals Tips
Before committing to a rental property, familiarize
yourself with the location, especially with regard to your personal needs
and preferences. Read pertinent chapters in this book, contact the local
chamber of commerce or visitor information bureau, and chat with people at
the agencies.
Most property management services offer you the option of having
the rental unit cleaned following your visit. The charge is nominal and
worth every penny, as you're just not going to feel like cleaning after
you've had such a wonderful, relaxing vacation!
If you are staying in an
oceanfront house during the months of July through October, turn the
outdoor lights off when possible. This is the turtle-hatching season and
newborn loggerhead turtles usually hatch in the dunes at night. They make
their way to the sea by following light reflected on the water. Lights on
the houses can confuse them and cause them to go in the wrong direction.
