Catering to kids, the North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher in Kure Beach offers wonderful, fun, creative special events, like "Trick or Treat Under the Sea" in October. In addition, they have regular events like Dialog with a Diver and Touch Tank Talks. When you're going to a special event or activity, prepare for unexpected expenses, such as parking fees, tips and "donations" by having extra cash with you. In some cases, these costs can be $5 to $15 or more per person.

Admission is free for the North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher in Kure Beach on four days each year: Martin Luther King Jr. Day (the third Monday in January); Valentine's Day (February 14); Veterans Day (November 11); and Christmas Eve (December 24).
