Featuring timetables, objective articles, advice and checklists, Cape Fear Wedding is available free at bridal and formal wear shops, jewelers, florists, Belk and Dillard's department stores, plus many other locations in our area, or it can be ordered by mail for a small mailing charge. Published quarterly, Carolina Wedding Guide is the oldest of our local bridal publications. Filled with useful tips, articles, checklists, photos, ads and advice, this complete wedding planner is available free at more than 125 locations in Brunswick, New Hanover and Pender counties. Look for copies at florists, bridal shops, photography studios, attractions and restaurants, or call to have one mailed to you. The Guide can also be seen on television, with advice and tips on the Carolina Wedding Guide Minute every Monday at 6:40 AM on WECT and at 7:20 AM on Fox 26.EGF 05-06-08

 The Perfect Wedding Planner

Wedding Shows

Bridal expos and fashion shows are held regularly in Wilmington, at various places around town. Belk and Dillard's at Independence Mall have in-house bridal shows, and several other shows, sponsored by consultants and wedding publications, are tremendously popular. On a Sunday afternoon in February, Tonya Boulware and the professionals from A Carolina Wedding, a full-service event-planning company and bridal salon, present a Bridal Mall to benefit St. Thomas Preservation Hall. For a $5 donation, you can visit this historical venue, which is customarily "dressed" inside and out for a wedding, complete with music, round tables, linens and all the rest. Available at the event are florists, representatives from wedding and reception locations, photographers, hair and makeup artists, videographers and other wedding professionals.EGF 05-06-08

Carolina Wedding Guide Bridal Expo

Each January, area brides get a chance to see the latest in wedding styles and accoutrements at Mike Raab's Carolina Wedding Guide Bridal Expo. The oldest wedding event in coastal North Carolina, the Expo features more than 80 exhibits and displays by most of the area's wedding-related businesses. Door prizes are offered. Every bride-to-be in attendance receives a CD with musical selections by area musicians as well as a DVD that includes wedding fashion shows videotaped at the area's top bridal shops, suggestions for the wedding location, plus special segments by area businesses and organizations. The Southport-Oak Island Chamber of Commerce in conjunction with the City of Southport Tourism Division hosts this bridal showcase in the Southport Community Building, one of the loveliest locations available for a wedding.
