Keep an eye out for special sections in
Wilmington's daily paper, the Star-News. A "Weddings"
advertising supplement comes out in January and other relevant features
appear throughout the year. In addition, the following area publications
are devoted solely to weddings.
Cape Fear Wedding If you're looking for a complete
wedding-planning source book, this publication is it. Cape Fear
Wedding is chock full of useful information and tips as well as
being a handbook where you can make notes and keep track of your wedding
details. Featuring timetables, objective articles, advice and
checklists, Cape Fear Wedding is available free at bridal and
formal wear shops, jewelers, florists, Belk and Dillard's department
stores, plus many other locations in our area, or it can be ordered by
mail for a small mailing charge. In addition, a free online planning
feature lets brides keep track of their preferred wedding vendors,
appointments and to-do list. Carolina
Wedding Guide Published quarterly, Carolina Wedding
Guide is the oldest of our local bridal publications. Filled with
useful tips, articles, checklists, photos, ads and advice, this complete
wedding planner is available free at more than 125 locations in

Bridal expos and fashion shows are held
regularly in Wilmington, at various places around town. Belk and
Dillard's at Independence Mall have in-house bridal shows, and several
other shows, sponsored by consultants and wedding publications, are
tremendously popular. Watch for announcements early in January. Annual
Bridal Mall On a Sunday afternoon in February, Tonya
Boulware and the professionals from A Carolina Wedding, a full-service
event-planning company and bridal salon, present a Bridal Mall to
benefit St. Thomas Preservation Hall. For a $5 donation, you can visit
this historical venue, which is customarily "dressed" inside and out for
a wedding, complete with music, round tables, linens and all the rest.
Available at the event are florists, representatives from wedding and
reception locations, photographers, hair and makeup artists,
videographers and other wedding professionals.
Carolina Wedding Guide
Bridal Expo Each January, area brides get a chance to
see the latest in wedding styles and accoutrements at Mike Raab's
Carolina Wedding Guide Bridal Expo. The oldest wedding event in coastal
North Carolina, the Expo features more than 80 exhibits and displays by
most of the area's wedding-related businesses. Door prizes are offered.
Every bride-to-be in attendance receives a CD with musical selections by
area musicians as well as a DVD that includes wedding fashion shows
videotaped at the area's top bridal shops, suggestions for the wedding
location, plus special segments by area businesses and organizations.
Check the Carolina Wedding Guide and the local press for date
and time.
Southern Cape Fear Bridal Showcase The Southport-Oak Island Chamber of
Commerce in conjunction with the City of Southport Tourism Division

the loveliest locations available for a wedding. Representatives from
