offer yoga, Pilates and Tai Chi classes. To find individual instructors or
places that focus on these increasingly popular skills, look for business
cards and advertisements in local publications. Frequently, chiropractic
offices, coffee shops and health-food stores have yoga, Pilates and Tai Chi
information available.
New Hanover County Department of Aging Senior
Center Today's seniors like to try new things and more than ever,
they're physically, mentally and spiritually active. Among the senior
center's many offerings, yoga, Tai Chi and Pilates are on the schedule
regularly. Call or stop by for a copy of the Tides and Times
newsletter to find out when classes are held. |

salon, acupuncture and yoga studio, Porters Neck Yoga & Spa offers classes
and individual instruction in yoga and Pilates. Their schedule includes more
than 25 classes with a variety of yoga styles, including Basic Yoga, Hot
Yoga, Ashtanga and restorative. Porters Neck Yoga & Spa also has yoga cards,
gift certificates and gift packages. Hours are Monday through Friday 9 AM to
7 PM, Saturday 9 AM to 5 PM and Sunday 10 to 11:30 AM (yoga only). |

Seaside Yoga and Boutique welcomes you to try
their complete schedule of noncompetitive classes. They are open seven days
a week with a variety of styles and levels, with special emphasis on
therapeutic healing and restorative techniques. Thai yoga, prenatal yoga,
Pilates and guided meditation classes are also available, as well as private
one-on-one sessions and massage therapy by appointment. Seaside Yoga also
offers a registered Yoga Alliance Teacher Training program. Their recently
added boutique features a full line of yoga active wear and accessories.

multi-disciplinary approach to yoga. With dozens of classes weekly taught
by experienced, Yoga Alliance–certified teachers, you're sure to find a

training school for yoga teachers and offers a variety of workshops and yoga
retreats. The center offers classes throughout the day and evening for all

Improve your flexibility, posture and balance
while strengthening muscles and uniting your mind and spirit at one of the
YMCA's many yoga and Pilates classes. These classes meet daily, are for all
levels and are free to YMCA members. Wrightsville Beach Parks and Recreation Wrightsville Beach Parks and Recreation offers year-round
yoga classes emphasizing flexibility, alignment, conditioning and
stress-reduction techniques. Gentle Yoga class is offered on Wednesdays from
6:30 to 7:30 PM. Continuing Yoga is an advanced class that meets on Tuesdays
from 6:30 to 8 PM. Drop-ins are welcome. Call for current fees and a
schedule. YWCA of the Lower Cape Fear The practice of yoga is associated with
physical, emotional and spiritual benefits. Through hatha yoga, offered
at the YWCA, poses with emphasis on alignment and breathing techniques
will cultivate a new awareness of the body and mind. Call for scheduled
times and fees. Island Yoga Melissa Parker Lee, owner and instructor at
Island Yoga, was certified in yoga and Pilates by Seaside Yoga of Wilmington
with Advanced Teacher Training at Asheville Yoga Center. She was Pilates
equipment trained by Inbalance Pilates Studio. Her other credits include RYT
(200) Yoga Alliance, CYTA, Phoenix Rising Yoga Level I and she has completed
a 72-hour Anusara Yoga Immersion Program. A variety of classes and class
times are offered Monday through Saturday, including Yoga Levels 1 & 2, Core
Yoga, Gentle Yoga, Anusara-Inspired Yoga, Pilates and Yoga-ilates (a
combination of yoga and Pilates). Drop-ins are welcome. Specific workshops

Yoga Center. This center focuses on gentle therapeutic yoga and offers
private sessions as well as group sessions that can create health and
harmony for anyone. Traditional styles of yoga such as Ashtanga, Iyengar and
Vinyasa are offered, as are Gentle, Power Vinyasa, Prenatal, Yin, Chair
Yoga, Rhythmic Flow and more. Pilates classes and massage therapy are also
available.
