Nautical Gifts
9973 Beach Dr., Calabash
(910) 579-2611, (800) 344-3816
Don't leave Calabash without a stop at
Callahan's. The building is a huge sprawling structure that actually houses
several departments under one roof, so plan for a long visit. Calabash
Nautical Gifts, the store's namesake, has everything nautical you can
imagine plus a large selection of coastal home décor, gifts, gold and silver
jewelry, a complete card shop and much more. St. Nick Nacks Christmas Shop,
the holiday (Christmas, Easter, Halloween) collectibles area of the store,
boasts nearly three million ornaments. If you're a collector, this is a
must-stop destination. You'll find generous selections of Christopher Radko
ornaments, Jim Shore "Heartwood Creek", Mark Robert’s Fairies, Snowbabies,
Department 56 Villages and others. In yet another area of this sprawling
store, you'll discover Pea Landing Mercantile. This area of Callahan's
features mouthwatering fudge and homemade candy, gourmet foods, cookbooks
with a coastal flair, and accessories for home or garden. Worn out from all
this shopping? The benches on the building's covered wraparound porch are a
great place to rest tired feet.

Reflections Stained Glass
947 Carter Dr., Calabash
(910) 575-3503
|
Pati Lewellyn started working in stained glass
as a hobby more than 20 years ago. She found that the choice of glass and
supplies was limited and dreamed of opening her own shop one day. Eventually
she did just that, and you will find more glass and supplies in her shop
than just about anywhere on the East Coast. In addition to selling pattern
books, glass, grinders, saws and a complete line of supplies and tools, Pati
gives classes in the shop. She teaches an "angel" class for beginners, which
takes only an hour or so to do, as well as classes in the basics, cutting
and grinding, lamp making, boxes, panels and anything else you might want to
learn. Classes are taught one-on-one by appointment. People have come from
as far as Murrells Inlet and Wilmington for classes and from Virginia, South
Carolina, Tennessee and even the country of Ireland for purchases. Custom
work and group demonstrations are available.

The
YardBird Emporium
10138 Beach Dr. SW, Calabash
(910) 575-5455
|
Proprietor Mary Keefe is a storehouse of
knowledge about birds and squirrels, their feeding habits and their
habitats. Hint: Attaching a bluebird house to a tree is not the best or
safest location as snakes and squirrels can easily get to the bluebird
babies. Proof of her knowledge can be seen in the bluebirds feeding on the
porch of her shop and flying around the buildings. In addition to all kinds
of supplies, such as hummingbird feeders, bird houses, squirrel feeders,
field guides, bluebird nesting boxes and poles, yard ornaments, etc., The
Yard Bird carries Coles Specialty Feed such as raw peanuts, safflower seed,
special feeder and premium seed mixes as well as Droll Yankee and Duncraft
and Vari-Craft products.
