Green Pages
in North Carolina's Southern Coast and Wilmington

Living green is not a new movement in North Carolina's Southern Coast and Wilmington, but it is becoming more important to the people who love this area for its natural beauty.

Wilmington and the surrounding areas are home to a great many conservation-minded, eco-friendly people, organizations and businesses that are working to make the region and the world a cleaner and better place to live, and we created these Green Pages to introduce you to them. Our Green Pages cover everything from sea turtle rescue and rehabilitation to carpooling to teaching children about the environment to information about recycling, reusing and reducing waste. We have sections on green homes, green materials, biofuels, farmers' markets, organic shops and restaurants, and much more.

Living green goes hand in hand with living a healthy lifestyle, which is why we've also included information about outdoor activities, camps for children and eco-friendly attractions. The natural beauty and mild weather of this region make the perfect backdrop for being outdoors and enjoying nature, no matter what outdoor activity you enjoy. Staying healthy uses fewer environmental resources and contributes to an overall sense of well-being and increased energy, which means that the sooner you start moving those legs, the sooner you can look forward to having the energy to get involved with one of the local organizations that works to protect and support a clean, healthy environment. We tell you about those in this chapter as well.

If you know of any businesses or organizations that are Living Green and have the criteria to show what they're doing, let us know and we'll be in touch with them. Email us at adminbythesea@coastalnc.net.
