If
you're a newcomer to the area, there's no better way to get acquainted
with your community than volunteering to help at a local event. We've
compiled a list of some popular annual happenings in a month-by-month
format; however, you'll want to check out other sources often. For
events in the Greater Wilmington area, stop in or call the Cape Fear
Coast Convention & Visitors Bureau, 24 North Third Street, Wilmington,

(see our
Area Overview chapter), read local publications (see our
Media chapter) and keep an eye out for brochures or announcement
posters around town. A statewide bi-monthly publication, North
Carolina Festivals, is available at visitor centers, online at
www.festivalnews.info or by calling (800) 357-0121. Another excellent
