In the warm season, a cruise aboard the 40-foot pontoon vessel along the calm Intracoastal Waterway affords a fine view of the landscape and wildlife of the tidal environment. Nature excursions to Masonboro Island are guided by a marine biologist. One-hour harbor cruises, shuttles to Masonboro Island and sunset cruises are other highlights, especially for fans of bird watching. Walk-ons are accepted, but reservations are required for the narrated nature excursions. Call for in-season cruise and excursion schedules and off-season charters and small-group excursions. In-shore fishing charters also available.

The Wrightsville Beach Museum is housed in the Myers cottage, one of the oldest cottages on the beach (built in 1907). Opened in May 1995, the museum presents beach history and lifestyles through permanent exhibits featuring a scale model of the oldest built-up section of the beach, photos, furniture, artifacts, a slide show and recorded oral histories, plus rotating exhibits on loggerhead turtles, surfing, the Civil War, shipwrecks, hurricanes and beach nightlife at such bygone attractions as the Lumina Pavilion. The museum is open Tuesday through Friday 10 AM to 4 PM, Saturday noon to 5 PM and Sunday 1 to 5 PM. Admission is $3. Children younger than 12 are admitted free with an adult. The museum is wheelchair accessible. Upon crossing the drawbridge, bear left at the "Welcome to Wrightsville Beach" sign; the museum is on the right near the volleyball courts beyond the fire station.
