Return to The Insiders' Guides®

The Insiders' Guide® to Vermont.

When most of us think of Vermont, we think of snow, skis and skates. Yes, Vermont has mountains of snow and everything that goes with it, but there’s much more to the Green Mountain State.

Publishers of the first edition of The Insiders’ Guide® to Vermont have recruited two longtime residents of those mountains to show you Vermont’s best shops, slopes and other sites and sights. Of course, they’ll introduce you to Vermont’s alpine and cross-country skiing, sleigh rides and ice-skating, but first they will lead you to the best spots for viewing the fiery colors of fall or to the inn where Robert Frost based his poem A Servant to Servants.

For those whose vacation plans involve their taste buds, let our Insiders show you where to enjoy creamy Vermont cheese, sample the syrup of the Vermont Maple Festival and tour Ben & Jerry’s Ice Cream Factory. For younger tourists, the Kidstuff chapter will help you find plenty of other treats. For American history buffs, we’ll show you the homes of Presidents Calvin Coolidge and Chester A. Arthur, after following the feats of the Green Mountain Boys and leader Ethan Allen.

The Vermont Insiders will give you hints on where to stay – whether a ski resort or hotel, one of the state’s warm country inns or even a campground. After offering more hours of attractions and events, our Insiders also will teach newcomers and travelers about the state’s history and today’s media, healthcare and education.
