& Long-Term Cottage Rentals Tips
“Cottage” is
the traditional beach name referring to a vacation rental house on the
Outer banks. Now, a “ cottage” may be a tiny saltbox, of
which there are only a few, or a mansion with numerous bedrooms, bathrooms,
and Jacuzzis or hot tubs. Take your pick! Either way, it*s a “cottage” to
Insiders.
For
a tranquil change of pace, escape to the Outer Banks in the dead of winter.
The quiet seasons are the best times to explore these enchanting barrier
islands on a deeper level.
If
you have a large group and don't want the whole crew to descend upon a
restaurant, consider having a meal catered. Look for recommendations in our
Weddings Chapter.
Pay
close attention to check-in and check-out times and don't expect access to
your cottage if you arrive early. Rental companies need the hours between
check-in and check-out to clean and maintain cottages properly. Before you
leave home, pack a bag with all the essentials for a day trip at the beach
and head for one of the public bathhouses to change and enjoy the ocean.
That way, if you're early, you don't have to wait to begin your vacation.
