Tennis

Tennis is another one of those not-so-well-known Crystal Coast treasures. The Crystal Coast has really good places to play tennis, just not many of them. As with golf, you can play tennis almost all year round. Emerald Isle Parks and Recreation keeps a list of people who share the love of tennis and are interested in getting together to play singles, doubles and mixed games. Call (252) 354-6350 and let them help you find a perfect match. (Some parks that aren't mentioned in this section have tennis courts too. See the Parks section at the end of this chapter.)SS 01-02-09

Volleyball

Beach volleyball is a classic beach event — and what better way to get some exercise, have some fun and get a tan all at the same time?  Volleyball nets can be found at some of the parks in the area as well as on the beach. Tournament nets are put out during the season on the main beach in Atlantic Beach, formerly known as The Circle. They are there for public use so join in on a game or just sit by and watch the action. For details, call the Atlantic Beach Town Hall, (252) 726-2121.SS 01-02-09
