There
never seems to be enough time to experience all that the coast has to
offer, especially when it comes to being out in the sand, the sea and
the salt air. North Carolina's Crystal Coast has plenty to offer in the
way of sports — in and out of the water. The mild weather along North
Carolina's coast makes people want to spend as much time as possible
outdoors. Whether it's walking on the beach, running, basketball, beach
volleyball, boating, bicycling, wind-surfing or kayaking, the wonderful
coastal scenery makes any activity more fun. If the weather just won't
cooperate or you need some equipment, you can visit one of the local
fitness centers. In this chapter, we offer a brief introduction to some
of the area's most popular sports and give you a contact for how to
participate. At this chapter's end, we list some of the county and city
parks on the Crystal Coast. Information about state and national parks
is given in our
Attractions chapter. Watersports, such as wind-surfing, kayaking and
sailing, are described in our
Fishing, Boating and Watersports chapter.
