New Bern also has an active cultural arts scene. The city is home to three theater organizations. Two of these groups stage a number of performances throughout the year, and there are several performances for children, while the other offers a new Shakespeare presentation every summer. See our New Bern Arts chapter for more information. As for the wander-in,
sit-down-and-enjoy-yourself type of nightlife, New Bern has that to
offer too. Not all of New Bern's nightspots are listed here for several
reasons — it may have just opened, was unintentionally overlooked or may
not be a place we would recommend to a friend. So although there may be
others, the nightspots that follow are among the more popular with
Insiders. Some of New Bern's bars are private and require membership
fees and a waiting period before the memberships become valid. |

place for those interested in mingling with friends or soon-to-be friends.
The bar is in the restaurant area (see our
New Bern Restaurants chapter) and serves mixed drinks, beer and wine.
The building and the decor are interesting in themselves. This historic
structure was first used by local pharmacist Caleb Bradham, inventor of
Pepsi-Cola, as his second drug store. The Ice House Celebrate with other fans as you watch
