Although there is no daily newspaper printed in the county, the Carteret County News-Times, a local news tri-weekly, is published here, and a neighboring county daily, the Jacksonville Daily News, has a bureau in the county. A state daily, the Raleigh News and Observer, also circulates here, as do several local weekly papers. Several radio stations are based in the area, and the Fox Network has a local affiliate based in Morehead City. Other networks have television stations close by to cover local news. The county happenings can be found on the pages of the Carteret County News-Times, published Wednesday and Friday afternoons and Sunday morning. Produced by a staff of local writers, this newspaper is a good source of information for vacationers who want to know the schedules of tours, festivals, kids' programs, seminars, exhibits and events of all types within the county and the surrounding area. The paper has an expanded area sports section and entertainment section, and a business portion is included each Wednesday. The News-Times, which has been in business for more than 95 years, is available by subscription and in vending machines throughout the county.
