spacer.gif (818 bytes)The healthcare field in the Crystal Coast area offers the best of both worlds. The comforting, small-town feel of its caring and friendly physicians and medical staff is enhanced by the latest technology, equipment and treatments. Routine and specialized medical care, diagnostic procedures, treatment and surgery are available along the Crystal Coast. Carteret County, with the help of nearby universities, is staying on the cutting edge of medical care. In cases of emergency, residents and visitors receive medical attention on a walk-in basis at several locations around the county during weekday business hours, and a few even offer weekend hours. At other times Carteret General Hospital's emergency room provides excellent care. In most towns or communities throughout the county, there are clinics or specialized practices that are willing to work in appointments for urgent care. And, of course, asking an Insider is also a great way to find a new family physician. Various home healthcare services help to bring people home earlier from surgeries, injuries and illnesses that have traditionally required hospital recoveries.

As Carteret County's population continues to grow, the healthcare community strives to keep pace. Some of the area's medical facilities are in the process of expansion or have recently opened newly built extensions or additions.

Alternative healthcare options available on the Crystal Coast facilitate healing in nontraditional ways. Practitioners of a variety of holistic approaches to well-being include preventative medicine and the relief of pain in ways that include massage therapies, acupuncture, yoga and herbal remedies.SS 01-07-08
