Fishing ReportsWhat's biting when and where is as important to avid anglers as the world
news is to the rest of us. Information about catches is available at most
bait and tackle shops, marinas, piers or charter boat rental offices. To get
the inside track on where to fish, read the Carteret County News-Times.
Every Friday it publishes "On the Line," a column by fishing writer Capt.
Jerry Dilsaver.

Fishing GearNow that you've boned up on how to fish, it's time to
get your gear. Local tackle shops not only have the fishing stuff you'll
need, but they also offer bits of advice about what fish are biting and
where. We've listed just a few of the many good shops in the area. Freeman's Bait & Tackle Freeman's is easy to find — just look for the big sign
that says "Fish Tales Told Here." This complete saltwater tackle shop sells
rods, reels, bait, clothing and other supplies and offers a repair and
cleaning service. Freeman's has been in business for more than 42 years and
knows the ins and outs of fishing along the Crystal Coast. Feel free to ask
questions, but, remember, you may hear a fish tale or two along the way. EJW Outdoors EJW's has been in business for more than 50 years and
recently expanded its extensive inventory with a move to its new location.
EJW's continues to offer gear for a variety of sports, including hunting,
biking, paint ball and archery. Fishing, however, is its primary focus, and
you can find an assortment of rods and reels along with all kinds of bait
and clothing. The store also services fishing equipment and bikes. |

groceries, all kinds of bait, crabbing supplies and tackle boxes. Also for
sale are rods and reels and rain gear for those dedicated to fishing no
matter what the weather. K&V also can hook you up with a charter boat.
