The
events that take place in any given region provide insight into what
that area is all about, what it's founded upon, what it's proud of and
what makes it unique. Traditions, history and community are very
important on the Crystal Coast, and many events take place each year to
celebrate these very things. From the American Music Festival concert
series beginning each fall and the famous Newport Pig Cookin' Contest
each April to the numerous athletic events and the Core Sound Decoy
Festival in December, you'll find that Carteret County events are
excellent ways to enjoy yourself and learn a little about the area. The
area's traditional festivals, even the large N.C. Seafood Festival, have
a sense of warmth reflective of a small-town, coastal region. You'll
find a coming together of first-time visitors and long-time residents,
young and old, family and friends, those just passing through — and
everything in between. Fold in with the crowd and feel right at home.
The simple pleasures of just being on the Crystal Coast provide a full
